GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is water homogeneous soluble.  The vapor pressure at 200C is 20.0 mm (millimeters).  The density is 8.4 lbs/gal. (weight per gallon) with a surface tension of 29.5 (dynes per CM at 250 deg. C).  The evaporation rate is .7 of butyl acetate (butyl acetate = 1).  ESC-10 may be mixed with alkalis, certain types of salts, acids and petroleum solvents for jobs that may require special applications.

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANERis a homogeneous blend of colloids, sequesterants, surfactant’s, and hyper-wetting agents that become Super Active when processed together. The cleaning action is unique and can only be related to the reaction of the atom in an atomic explosion where the ceaseless random movements of the atoms taking place in the product actually lifts, separates, and holds in separation the oils, greases, dirts, soils, etc. which have been penetrated by ESC-10. Although we refer to ESC-10 as a cleaner it is not limited to just cleaning.

Since the colloids simply penetrate into solids and stir things up, their design is like no other cleaner and will continue to work as long as there is moisture present. Although colloids work equally well in fresh or salt water, water is a prime factor in their cleaning processes.

If you think of cleaning as a pie cut into four pieces which include time, chemical, energy and heat, then you can visualize how cleaning works. Cleaning takes all four pieces, but the size of the pieces can be adjusted. If you make chemical a smaller piece, you will have to increase the other three pieces (or at least one of them) to compensate for the smaller amount of chemical. So, if you decide to decrease the amount of chemical, you will perhaps increase the energy by using a brush, or increase the heat by using a steam cleaner, or increase both by using a steam cleaner with a power jet spray. If you do not increase either of these pieces, then you must allow additional dwell time to compensate for the decrease in chemical.

INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL CLEANING:

In the modern work environment, cleanliness is reflected in increased work efficiency, lower equipment maintenance costs, higher production and improved quality control.

The best way to clean a hydrocarbon soil (including greases, oils, fats, lipids, proteins and sugars) is obviously the fastest and cheapest as both time and money are the two requirements that a clean surface demands, because the client is buying a clean surface or object, not a cleaning agent. This is based upon the premise that people buy quarter inch holes, not quarter inch drills.

Cleaning compounds are as old as civilization itself, stemming from a simple water wash-off to exotic processing of any manufacturing product. The two other essentials for the process are mechanical agitation and cleaning solutions.

We will briefly review the most common and some of the exotic methods, means, and compounds for industrial, commercial and general cleaning.

But first, some elementary chemistry.

Some knowledge is required of basic chemistry in order to make the correct decisions and avoid the pitfalls that are common to those with limited knowledge in the use of cleaning compounds. This information will cover pH, organic vs. inorganic, and compounds.

All cleaning compounds have a common measurement for acidity or alkalinity; it is pH. The standard pH scale runs from 1 to 14 and measures the acid-alkali continuum with water being ranked 7 or “neutral”. pH is further defined as follows:

1 - 6 heavy to mild acidity; 8 - 14 mild to heavy alkalinity. Undiluted concentrated acids are in the heavy corrosive area of 1 to 3. 3 - 6 are normal, diluted versions of acids and acid products with the majority of acid-based cleaners being in the range of 4.5 to 6.6. Alkaline cleaners are around 9 - 11 with the heavy caustic types being 11 - 14.

In order to neutralize an acid, you mix alkali with it, and vice-versa for an alkaline (i.e., if you have a mixture of sulfuric acid, you can neutralize it with an alkali mixture in this manner) . An acid with a pH of 5 can be neutralized by an alkaline with a pH of 9, resulting in a solution with a pH of 7. Obviously, if you mix approximately equal amounts of an acid cleaner with an alkaline cleaner on a soil they will neutralize each other and will not work or clean.

BASICS:

Most cleaning compounds are INORGANIC. That is, they contain no carbon or carbon derivatives. The easiest way to learn the difference is to remember that ORGANIC means that carbon is present. This means virtually all fossil- fuel based chemicals, i.e. petrochemicals, solvents, oils, distillates, etc. contain carbon-hydrogen molecules.

As with an acid soil, an alkaline cleaner will neutralize and with the aid of soap, detergent, chelates, sequesterants and surfactants, will lift and remove adequately loosened soils so that a high pressure spray rinse will remove it. The reverse is true for an alkaline-based soil, which is the most commonly found.

COMPOUNDS:

The following is an itemization of common applications of cleaning compounds called in the industry Chemical Specialties. The common types are 1) heavy alkaline cleaners, 2) heavy acid cleaners, 3) solvent cleaners, and 4) decarbonizers.

I.           Heavy Duty alkaline cleaners; pH from 10 to 12.5 or 13. Usually are powdered sold by the pound, depending upon the ingredients. Most are similar to laundry detergents with some phosphates, chlorides, surfactants, etc., and many are buffered to prevent attack on non-ferrous metals, as most acid and alkalis will oxidize non-ferrous metals (which means everything that is not iron or steel, like aluminum, cadmium or cad plate, magnesium, or titanium). These garden variety cleaners run the spectrum from heavy to light duty.

2.         Heavy duty acid cleaners: pH from 4.5 to 6. Usually implemented where an alkaline cleaner is ineffective or in a metal processing line where an alkaline cleaner would carry through the line and neutralize subsequent acid-based baths or spray applications such as in iron or zinc phosphatizing (which is the base coating that is applied over bare metal for corrosion resistance under a point application).

3.           Solvent-based cleaners: Stoddard solvent or kerosene type compounds, vapor degreasing utilizing tri-chloroethylene or perchloroethylene are the most common in this area. Emulsion types, although highly selective, either from an application or soil standpoint, are also in this group. An emulsion is a solvent based product that is miscible with water and, as such, turns milky white for a complete water mix. They can be used with water or applied directly.

4.           Decarbonizers: Baked on soil like carbon, e.g. exhausts from aircraft engines or automotive and gas residues, fuel glazes, etc. are the toughest to remove and usually are complicated as they are found on non-ferrous surfaces so that the product utilized must be buffered or inhibited so as not to attack the metal surface such as an aircraft application. So stringent are these regulations and requirements that the U.S. Military and Airframe Manufacturers, as well as commercial air carriers, have laid down minimum requisites for structural safety and integrity on an aircraft.

Cleaners range from heavy duty soap tank to light duty spray applications and are both acidic and alkaline in basis. Many incorporate available chlorides and exotic compounds to attack the soil and not the metal. An example would be a Cresylic acid-based product with methylene chloride and an inhibitor to prevent any available hydrogen molecules from entering the metal which would cause hydrogen embrittlement. A salient example of a product like this is the garden variety of GUNK or carburetor cleaner found at any airmotive or automotive shop.

Most cleaners, if sold to the government or military or aircraft service agencies, must meet or exceed U.S. Mil-C specification, Boeing, Douglas, or Lockheed specifications or be on the Federal QPL (Qualified Products List). ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER meets Douglas CDS-l and Boeing Aircraft specifications for exterior surface cleaning use.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

PRESSURE WASH:

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER provides a superior performance when combined with a high pressure warm, hot, or tap temperature spray. Atomization poses no problem as the blend of ESC-10 cleaner is non-hazardous to people or clothing when utilized as directed.

In spray washing, best results have been obtained by the use of high pressure, low-volume equipment, i.e. 500 - 550 lbs. pressure and a volume of 2 to 3 gallons per minute. The best spray nozzle to use is the 20 degree Vee-Jet type.

The best method of application is to wet the surface to be cleaned with ESC-l0 and water, mixed at the desired concentration, and let stand until the soil on the surface is loosened. A solution of one part ESC-10 to 20 parts water has proven effective for most applications. However, concentration may vary to fit the job.

Always start at the bottom of the vertical surface to be cleaned and apply the solution upward. The actual cleaning is accomplished by rinsing with water.

Using the equipment described above, start the rinse operation at the top of the surface and rinse downward. Hold the spray nozzle of the gun approximately 6- 8 inches from the surface at a 45 degree angle and move forward. This action causes the water to penetrate under the loosened soil and to roll it forward in front of the spray nozzle.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT:

ESC-10 is a superior performing concentrate designed for typical soils found on heavy field equipment in oil field rigs, heavy earth moving machinery, etc. It can be applied by soak tank or pressure spray with or without water proportionately. While it is not necessary for effective cleaning, ESC-10 can also be mixed with kerosene, Stoddard solvent, or diesel fuel to create an emulsion if desired.

For oil field equipment, engine blocks, heavy road construction equipment, floors, or any other surface where extra heavy grease deposits occur, mix 1 part ESC-10 to 3 parts water. Apply by a spray method. The 3 gal. Hudson-type sprayer is ideal tor this purpose.

ESC-10 in a concentrated solution usually works in about 20 to 30 minutes. When grease starts to slide, rinse off with high pressure water. For light to medium heavy grease, mix 1 part  ESC-10 with 15 parts water. Pre-soak when possible by placing parts in a bath for 20 to 30 minutes of 1 part ESC-10 to 20 parts water.

A unique quality of ESC-10 is that when left on a surface it will not completely evaporate. Leave the ESC-10 on the surface overnight and wash it down the next day. The results will be the same as if you had finished the job in sequence.

It is important to realize that ESC-10 inhibits rusting and corrosion of metals as long as there remains a small amount of it on the metal surface. However, if it is all thoroughly rinsed off with water, then the metal is left exposed and therefore subject to rusting as usual. To inhibit this occurrence, a light oil film may be applied to the surface of the metal.

DEGREASER:

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is an effective degreaser for swab, spray or soak tank applications for use on painted or unpainted surfaces; ferrous or non-ferrous metals. It meets minimum standards set forth for MIL-C-44361-613 Class 2 Biodegradable.

The degreasing of oil field equipment, engine blocks, heavy road construction equipment and floors or any other surface where extra heavy grease deposits occur, may be done by mixing I part of ESC-10 with 1 part water. Apply by a spray method. The 3 gallon Hudson-type sprayer is ideal for this purpose. ESC-10 in a concentrated solution usually works in about 3 to 5 minutes. When grease starts to slide, rinse off with high pressure water. For light to medium degreasing, mix 1 part ESC-10 with 5 parts water.

In those areas where mildew is a problem, ESC-10 has been found to be extremely effective in the removal of mildew, algae and fungus using a hot water, high-power pressure spray application. Once the surface has been thoroughly cleaned, mildew is somewhat inhibited from returning.

HAND CLEANER:

Used full strength, ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER will remove dirt, grease and simple paints.

ESC-10 is odorless and non-irritating and completely miscible and free rinsing with water. It is safe to use on the face, hair, and all extremities. It leaves the skin clean and soft though mild defatting may occur with repeated use. ESC-10 is an excellent cleaner for the hands of mechanics, oil field workers, and any other person whose hands get extremely dirty or stained. Use a lanolin hand lotion to restore natural fats to the skin after prolonged use.

Just rub the full strength ESC-10 into hands, add a little water, and rub hands together again. Allow a few seconds before rinsing  thoroughly. This may be repeated, if necessary.

Also, before beginning greasy or dirty jobs, rub ESC-10 into hands. This will keep the skin from  absorbing most oils, grease and grime making cleaning easier and quicker.

VEHICLE CLEANING:

For cleaning engines of automobiles and trucks, 1 part ESC-10 to 5 parts water applied and allowed to stand for 5 minutes then rinsed with water removes oil, grease and grime.

For truck wheels. extremely dirty engines and undercarriages, mix 1 part ESC-10 to 1 part water. Spray on and let stand 5 minutes then rinse with clear, high-pressure water.

Radiators may be cleaned by adding 1 cup ESC-10 to the water in the radiator and allowed to circulate for one day. Then change the water and add 1/2 cup ESC-10 to the new water to maintain the clean radiator.

For cars and truck cabs, 2 ounces colloid cleaner per gallon of water make an excellent shampoo that rinses streak and spot free. A 1 to 30 part solution agitated with a soft bristle brush may be used for road film, insects, salt, and diesel smoke. Rinse with clean, high-pressure water.

Automobile interiors may also be cleaned with a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 40 parts water by using a brush on upholstery and a towel for removing most of the moisture and dirt. The ESC-10 will also help to remove foul odors.

For tire white walls, use 1 part ESC-10 to 2 parts water and agitate with a stiff bristle brush, then rinse.

STEAM CLEANER AND PRESSURE WASH:

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is non-clogging, non-caking, and non-scaling and is highly effective for all steam cleaning applications. It contains a special blend of surfactants and sequestering agents to lift soil and provide superior rinsability.

Use 1 to 2 pints of ESC-10 to replace every 4 pounds of caustic powder previously used, or 2 ounces per gallon at the nozzle of the steam gun. The concentration may be made as high as one part ESC-10 to 1 part water in the solution tank. This is true because there are no powders in our ESC-10 to fall out to the bottom of the tank and subsequently clog small orifices and tubing, or create scale in the steam coils. This highly-concentrated solution may be varied to fit any job by a single turn of a metering valve.

ESC-10 is safe on any surface that will tolerate steam. Because of its colloidal action, ESC-10  keeps scale from forming in the steam coils reducing maintenance of the steam cleaner and nearly eliminating the need to pull apart the unit to clear and clean orifices and tubing.

ESC-10 may be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. For cleaning in an Ultrasonic Cleaner use 1 part ESC-10 to 50 parts water.

ESC-10 may be used in a dip tank cold solution at 1 part ESC-10 to 3 - 5 parts water.

If water is heated to 1600 deg. F to 1800 deg. F, a dilution of 1 part ESC-10 to 15 parts water may be used.

COOLANT ADDITIVES:

To keep parts, pumps and pressure lines clean, use 1 part ESC-10 to 3 parts water soluble oil as a coolant additive. This will add lubricity to the coolant and effectively eliminate  congealing and oil curds.

MACHINE SHOP APPLICATIONS - CUTTING OIL ADDITIVE:

As a coolant additive, use 1 part ESC-10 to 3 parts water-soluble oil. This will add lubricity to the coolant and will eliminate oil curds and congealing. It also keeps the pumps, parts, and pressure lines clean and clear.

SAW BLADE LUBRICANT:

To increase the life and efficiency of metal cutting saws, use ESC-10 as a lubricant on the cutting edges. Cleaner cuts will be obtained without the loading effect, and the saw teeth will be less likely to bind. ESC-10 has the lubricity needed to cut aluminum and the cooling effect needed to cut titanium.

COOLING SYSTEM CLEANER FOR BUS AND TRUCK RADIATORS:

To clean the radiators of large commercial type vehicles such as buses and trucks, 3 quarts of ESC-10 may be added to the water in the radiator. Run the vehicle for one (1) working day, allowing the engine to heat up, then drain the radiator and flush the system with clean water. Fill the radiator with clean water and add 3 ounces of ESC-10 for normal driving use. This will eliminate expensive breakdowns and cleaning procedures. One tablespoon of common baking soda should also be added to the radiator for the prevention of electrolysis.

THREADING STAINLESS STEEL PIPE:

Use 1 part ESC-10 to 5 parts water as a lubricant when threading stainless steel pipe.

TAPPING BLIND HOLES IN MAGNESIUM:

Use 1 part ESC-10 to 3 parts water-soluble oil as a lubricant.

ESC-10 may be used in cleaning electrical components and equipment very effectively. In the aerospace industry it may be used to clean printed circuitry. Although ESC-10 will remove various metal oxides and inhibit re-corrosion, it will not cause any dimensional changes.

ESC-10 may be used to clean electrical appliances, equipment and is very effective in the overhaul and repair of such items as adding machines, typewriters, calculators, cash registers, computers, water meters, parking meters, telephone components, etc.

ESC-10 may be used in ultrasonic cleaners. For jewelry and small parts baths, use a dilution of 1:10 parts water. Change bath solution when clarity is noticeably reduced. For larger industrial applications, use dilution of 1:20 and a minimum pH of 9.5. Change solution when clarity is reduced by emulsion or solids which do not settle to the bottom or may not be removed by filter or hand screen.

MARITIME APPLICATIONS

MARINE CLEANER:

As a midships cleaner ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is very effective as a hand wiping material in cleaning the engine room where fuel oil, smoke, etc. are a problem. Mix 1 part ESC-10 to 60 parts water and wipe down the area with a wet cloth. No rinsing or further wiping is necessary.

ESC-10 is excellent for swabbing down decks and bulkheads. It will not damage paint or wooden surfaces, and helps prevent rust on exposed surfaces. This mixture should be 1 part ESC-10 to 40 parts water.

Small amounts of cleaner may be introduced into the ship’s ventilation system by means of an atomizing spray to dispel foul air or odors. A mixture of 1 part ESC-10 to 50 parts water will effectively remove stack gases.

ESC-10 will remove tarnish and corrosion from copper, brass and silver. Moreover, it will remove light rust from iron and steel when used in a soak tank operation at a concentration of 1 part ESC-10 to 5 parts water. Dwell time will depend entirely upon the degree of contamination.

A concentration of 1 part ESC-10 to 20 parts water very effectively removes mildew from lines. canopy, sails, rigging, upholstery, keel, etc. This same mixture removes oil from bilges. decks. hulls. engine and engine cowling also salt water and salt water spots from windshields, decks and hull.

ESC-10 is completely safe to use throughout the vessel because it has no ingredients to disturb the grain of fine woods, no chlorides to bleach painted surfaces, no ingredients  to deteriorate plastics and fiberglass and no petroleum solvents to craze or warp plastics or fiberglass materials.

ESC-10 works well when diluted with fresh or salt water and is one of the few cleaning solutions which may be used in any body of water without harming marine aqua-culture, flora or fauna and does not alter marine eco-environmental systems. In addition, ESC-10 contains no nitrates, sulfates, phosphates, sulfonates, caustics or chlorides.

ESC-10 may be used for all purposes in the food services areas of galleys. See Restaurant Section under Institutional Applications.

HEAVY DUTY CLEANING:

Heavy duty cleaning of fuel tanks, refrigerator containers, engine rooms, boiler fireside wash-downs with no toxic or polluting properties:

For removal of crude oil and other petroleum products from the holds of tankers, ESC-10 should be sprayed into the holds by low volume, high pressure pumps through the use of revolving spinner heads which can be lowered into the hold. This type of operation suggests the use of a 50 Vee-Jet nozzle. The process of spraying should commence as soon as possible after the ship is empty, so as to prevent the formation of volatile gases from the remaining crude oil or other petroleum residue. Continue the pumping process until ESC-10 has covered the entire surface. For best results this solution should be allowed to set for about one hour, after which the Butterworth system should be used for 30 to 45 minutes.

It is important to note, at this point, that ESC-10 solution can be left on the interior of the holds for periods time longer than 1 hour with no problem. The initial hour is simply recommended to give it time to break down the crude oil or like kind petroleum products, and longer periods will not decrease its efficiency, since complete evaporation will not occur. Accordingly, the results will be the same if Butterworthing is delayed 24 hours as if it were done in sequence. After this procedure has been completed, the hold should be clean and gas free. If any gases do remain, however, then spray the interior of the hold with a mixture of 1 part ESC-10 to 20 parts water through the revolving spinner-heads. This will leave the tank gas free.

Because ESC-10 holds oil in solution and breaks it down to such a degree that it cannot stick back together, this procedure can be completed without fear of creating an oil slick in the wake of the ship. Once the reaction has occurred, the oil begins to lose its identity as an oil and take on the characteristics of a water soluble. There are no reverse emulsions with ESC-10

INSTITUTIONAL APPLICATIONS:

COMMERCIAL:

For general cleaning, BISHOP’S ORIGINAL ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is economical and particularly effective in heavy-duty institutional applications. It is people and plant safe and safe to use on all surfaces when used as directed.

When diluted 1 part ESC-10 to 3 parts water, or up to 100 parts water depending on the soil, it is very effective in removing most hydrocarbon soil. Note that ESC-10 can not attach to inorganic soil, that which does not contain a hydrogen and/or carbon molecule. It can be applied by spray, soak, swab, or steam. The following dilutions are suggested:

WALLS. WOODWORK AND WINDOWS:

As a wall cleaner, ESC-10 does an exceptional job on virtually any surface. It is safe on paint, and will not take the plasticizer out of acrylic type wall coverings and wall papers. For cleaning walls, it is recommended that the washing always be done from the bottom up, and the rinsing from the top down. This will eliminate any potential streaking. For walls, mix 1 part ESC-10 to 80 parts water as a good rule of thumb. Rinse with water or just wipe off.

As a wood cleaner, ESC-10 is completely safe with no adverse effects such as spotting, streaking or raising the grain. It can be used on bowling alleys, bowling pins, doors, desks, tables, chairs, cabinets, railings, etc. Use 1 part ESC-10 to 80 parts water.

As a window and glass cleaner, very little ESC-10 is required, and if too much is used, filming or streaking may occur. Use 1 part ESC-10 to 100 parts water and squeegee off. Glass will be cleaner and stay cleaner longer.

UPHOLSTERY AND RUGS:

Use 50-100 parts water to 1 part ESC-10 in cleaning rugs and carpets with cleaning machines. For spotting, use 20 parts water to 1 part ESC-10 on spots and stains -sponging it on, agitating with soft bristle brush, and then wipe thoroughly with a towel. Do not allow the carpets to become overly saturated with water and ESC-10 solution. Since the ESC-10 will not completely evaporate, and carpets cannot be rinsed off like walls or floors, care must be taken not to use ESC-10 too concentrated. Residue left in the carpet will continue to clean even the bottom of people’s shoes - causing large dirty spots to appear where concentrations have been too high or too wet in the cleaning.

Should this happen, the addition of water to the spots will clean them, then towel thoroughly, fan, or vacuum out all moisture. Employees sometimes think if a little is good, a lot is better, but when using ESC-10 on carpets, this philosophy can be a headache to maintenance and sales personnel.

Remembering the above caution, a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 40 parts water is a good solution for stuffed upholstery — brushing on and then toweling off. Stains and spots may take a higher concentration, but avoid getting furniture too wet or more than a concentrate of 1 part ESC-10 to 20 parts water.

BATHROOMS:

1 part ESC-10 to 50 parts water is used for bathroom floors, walls, sinks, toilet bowls, decor cleaning, light fixtures, etc. If ESC-10 is used too concentrated, any residue left on smooth tile finishes will feel sticky or tacky under foot.

FABRICS - SPOTTING AND LAUNDRY:

For bed spreads, curtains, towels, sheets, or any fabrics, ESC-10 becomes an excellent stain and spot remover. It is effective on the following types of stains: Alcohol, food, milk, ammonia, fruit, mustard, beer, fruit juices, nail polish, blood, nicotine, butter, glue, oil, candy, grass, ointment, chewing gum, grease, light rust, chocolate, household cement, ice cream, cocktails, smoke, coffee, inks, soft drinks, cologne, perfume, iodine, soot, colored pencil, ketchup, sugar, cooking oil, lipstick, tar, cosmetics, mayonnaise, tea, medicine, water colors, metal polish, dyes, methylate, non-acrylic waxes, eggs, mildew, wine, chocolate, mustard and many more.

ESC-10 may be used full strength, allowed to sit 15 minutes, brushed or agitated into the stain and then rinsed. If it is an old stain, or very stubborn, repeat the process allowing to sit for 15 - 30 minutes after agitating; then rinse. Several applications may be necessary, but usually the stain will be removed after one application. Note that certain stains such as coffee, tea or beverages, which have been previously washed with caustics, may have no remaining hydrocarbon, which is necessary for ESC-10 to attack and remove. Tannin is an example of a natural dye that may not be removable once the esters, fats or other protein molecules have been removed by washing with other chemicals.

ESC-10 may be added to the laundry at the same time as the laundry powder or Borax at a rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water. It increases the cleaning power of the detergent or soap and assists in removing heavy oils, dirts, inks, etc. For lighter cleaning, ESC-10 may be used alone in home laundry applications. Some companies use it without detergent at a higher concentration for their personnel’s uniforms, napkins, table cloths, etc. Chlorine and softeners are compatible with ESC-10 and may be used as usual.

A note should be made at this point: washing machines that have accumulations of residues from the soap powders and detergents previously used will be cleaned by ESC-10. There have been occasions when this cleaning has left the washer filled with the “gunk” which has been lifted from under the agitator of the machine. It is recommended, therefore, that machines with heavy encrusting be run through a wash cycle with only ESC-10 and water, and then rinsed before beginning a complete change to ESC-10.

FURNITURE:

ESC-10 is safe to use on plastic, wood, cane, bamboo, metal, chrome, fabric and leather. Use a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 80 parts water for cleaning all your furniture.

APPLIANCES:

ESC-10 is an effective cleaner of all appliances -- large or small -- inside or out. Use 1 part ESC-10 to 100 parts water for the exteriors of washers, refrigerators, dryers, ranges, small appliances, air conditioners, etc. On stoves, grills, fans, vents, filters, etc. where heavy accumulations of grease and oil exist, use a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 5 -20 parts water, depending on the soil. It may be applied by spray, soak, or sponge. Rinse or wipe as necessary. Always apply cleaner from bottom up and remove from top down to avoid streaking.

HOTELS:

ESC-10 may be used for numerous jobs in hotels, including all of those listed for restaurants, many for industrial, as well as from parking lot to penthouse. Please refer to these specific cleaning jobs for information about dilutions and processes.

Hotel parking areas (especially enclosed ones) are always a headache for management and maintenance. Grease and oil may be tracked into lobbies, rooms, concessions, etc. from these areas increasing maintenance and costs everywhere. Because these areas are enclosed, volatile cleaning compounds may not be used for safety reasons. ESC-10 when mixed 1 part to 1 part water, brushed onto the surface of 4 - 5 stalls and then mopped up will remove surface oil and grease. A regular cleaning program will get up most of the stain and imbedded grease and eliminate black areas on entrances to the hotel from parking areas. Applying the solution to 4 or more stalls before returning to mop should allow enough dwell time for the colloids to do their work.

An added benefit to using ESC-10 in areas such as these and also around refuse bins is the ability to deodorize. Areas around toilets, urinals and stalls may be deodorized by spray applying ESC-10 at 1 part to 5 parts water and rinsing clean. For buildings with refuse shoots, ESC-10 may be sprayed on and will help eliminate odors and prevent further accumulation of soil and dirt. Use a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 10 parts water increasing the water as the area becomes clean and needs less to do the job.

Housekeepers like ESC-10 as it means eliminating many of their bottles and cans of cleaning products. They can use ESC-10 for baths, bedrooms and kitchenettes. It has a pleasant, but not “chemical” odor, while allowing them to work quickly and efficiently. For all-purpose cleaning, the following dilutions with water are generally recommended:

For Walls of Ceramic Tile, Paint, Vinyl: use 1 part ESC-10 to 50 parts water

For Floors of Ceramic Tile, VAT, Epoxy or Rubber: use 1:50

For Carpet: use 1:100 for extractors and 1:20 for spot remover

For Fabrics: use 1:80 for broad cleaning extractor and 1:20 for spot remover

For Glass or Bright Metal Finishes: use 1:300

For Appliances, Clocks, Televisions and Plastic Laminates: use 1:100

For Washable Acoustical Ceilings: use 1:50

For Laundry: pre-soak, or pre-spot stained whites in 1:20 and wash with 1:50

Note:   It is extremely important to absorb all residual ESC-10 off of carpets or floor areas in order to prevent shoe soles from soiling the cleaned area.

RESTAURANT:

ESC-10 COLLOID CLEANER is an effective, efficient, and economical general purpose cleaner for all types of restaurant cleaning jobs. It is safe to use in food preparation areas, serving areas, and as a dish washing liquid. It is 100% rinsable, removing bacteria that can feed germs, mold, and mildew.

Use ESC-10 for cleaning walls, ceilings, floors, stainless steel surfaces, appliances, bar glasses, grease tanks, drains, deep fryers, air filters, and Gaylord hoods. A solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 40 parts water will clean most heavy grease and oil filmed surfaces, dirty floors, filters, etc. One part ESC-10 to 100 parts water will clean windows, glassware, chandeliers, mirrors and decor.

A solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 80 parts water sprayed on acoustical tile and allowed to drip on a catch cloth will remove nicotine accumulations from them. Spray with water to rinse using a light mist.

Vinyl, plastic, plastic laminate, leather, wood, ceramic, fiberglass, ivory, naugahyde, chrome, concrete, and any other surface that water will not damage may be cleaned with

ESC-10. Mixtures will depend on the degree of soil and length of time it has been since thoroughly cleaned.

Furniture, upholstery, carpets, and fabrics may also be cleaned with our product. Spotting of table clothes, napkins, etc. may also be done with the concentrated ESC-10 to prevent permanent stains.

Silver, brass, and other ornamental objects may be soaked in a 1 part ESC-10 to 5 parts water solution to remove light tarnish, or prolonged soaking will remove and release most tarnish so that polishes may work even better and bring out higher luster.

Because this product is people safe, there is no need for special equipment, clothing, or protection in using it to clean. It is also an ideal product to use around food as it is in itself non-toxic and has passed the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s (USDA) requirements for use in food processing areas.

Note:    Please refer to the specific cleaning categories in prior instructions for cleaning such surfaces as carpets, upholstery, walls, wood, windows, etc. see pages 12 through 14.

ESC-10 may be used for soaking utensils or flatware before washing, resulting in a renewed shine and brilliance to their surfaces. Two ounces of ESC-10 for each 5 gal. of water produces excellent results. Burned pots and pans may also be soaked in a solution of 1 part ESC-10 to 50 parts water.

ESC-10 is very effective in cleaning the exterior and interior of walk-in and reach-in “ reefers, with the additional benefit of inhibiting, and in most cases, completely eliminating the formation of mildew.
